Lancashire County Darts Organisation was formed in 1972.The following year Lancashire became one of the founder members of The British Darts Organisation and were the first Inter-County Champions in the anugural year.

Since those early days when just 10 counties took part, the strength of the Inter-Counties has increased to 66. Due to governmental changes the historic County boundaries of Lancashire changed and a new County of Merseyside was born along with Greater Manchester. Lancashire changed its name into Lancashire GMC, which incorporated the new boundaries some of which were in the old Cheshire county.

Lancashire County is proud of its achievements, and has had dozens of its players going on to represent their national teams at international level and have become household names in arena of televised darts world wide.

Lancashire has the largest Super League in Britain with some 60+ towns competing each year in its league. All the matches are played on Sundays with teams from as far South as Stockport, North to Morecambe, West to Blackpool and East to Earby. The leagues are not regionalised, and with an area of 400 sq miles being covered, a fair bit of traveling.
